Priceless

I never realized how motherhood can change a person.

I heard that life would never be the same.
That I might as well say goodbye to sleep and a clean house and freedom.
I was told that it wouldn't be all about me anymore. Not even remotely.
My carefree days would be gone.
Hello, responsibilty. How's it goin', endless to-do list!
Goodbye, quiet and moments to myself!

Sounds appealing doesn't it?
So I was caught totally off guard when I became a Mommy...

And found it was my joy to read one extra story to my little girl even at the end of my most tiring day.

And it was my pleasure to rock my baby to sleep when she was crying for a forgotten little bunny.

And saw there was comedy to be found in a pee accident on the floor or a toy in the depths of the toilet.

And discovered that there is something to be cherished in the curious endevours of a little one covered from head to toe with diaper cream.

And learned there is no sense of loss in buying your kids the next size clothes they need instead of the new wardrobe you really don't.

And realized its actually peaceful being surrounded by the noisy hubbub of playful girlies.

And found I really didn't mind that it wasn't about me anymore because its far more rewarding to pour your life into others.

And understood that freedom would have a new definition, but a better, more purposeful one.

And those occasional quiet, 'me time' moments would be filled with an ache to have my babies nearby again.

I knew that relationship costs. I had heard all about that.

But let me share another little secret with you...

Motherhood is priceless!

This is dedicated to my Mom, who taught me the value of slowing down and enjoying these fleeting moments of motherhood.
And to my mother-in-law who raised such a wonderful man for me to marry and is an ever present source of encouragement.

You are my heros.

I feel the same. Motherhood is the best thing that had happened to me.

Taking the time to tell your Mom--and Mookie--how much you appreciate them is worth more than any gift the will receive today. Life truly is precious and appreciating the time and devotion a Mother gives freely is a gift in itself.
Happy Mothers Day to you---your Mom---and of course, my dear cousin Mookie. Hope the sun shines on your memories and heart as it is shining on mine today.
Sandi

PS: You write beautifully, and will have many wonderful stories to read back on when you are "missing" the young Mother stage of your life.

I'm a covenant keeper.

I love my husband.

I am above self pity.

Motherhood=Adventure

Worth more than rubies.

“I am more convinced than ever that even in the midst of the mundane, burdensome, and oftentimes frustrating tasks of life allotted to me as a mother, God wants me to find his joy. He wants every single day of my life to be a celebration of his blessings, whether large or small. He wants me to celebrate life ~ the life He has given me.”
